A homophonic name of course... Blu-Ray and Blue Ray.  

 

One was born to store data. The other was born to herd sheep, or whatever else he feels needs herding. Pinnacle Blue Ray is a Shetland Sheep dog. Shelties look much like small Collies, and though they are  related, they are  separately recognized AKC breeds. However, Blue Ray is not just any Sheltie. He is a "coincidental" Grand Champion show dog with a most unusual story, as told to us by his person.

"Pinnacle Blue Ray is a Blue Merle Shetland Sheepdog. I had always had my eye on him as he lived with his breeder. Three years ago, he became mine for good. The breeder had decided to re-home him and chose me, as she knew I always loved him from afar.

 

"The breeder never asked or told me to show him. He had been in a few shows as a puppy, but here he was, 3 years old and hadn't been shown for a few years. I believed in him. I had never owned a show dog before, but decided to jump in, both feet.

 

 "I first entered him on a whim at the prestigious Morris and Essex Show. To my surprise, he won Winner's Dog and Best of Winners. So our journey began. He  finished his Championship in less than a year, with few showings, by September 2022. He went on to finish his Grand Championship this past June, achieving both titles within 9 months.

GCH CH Pinnacle Blue Ray is also a performance, agility dog. He has earned his agility ACT 1 and ACT J. He will now be focusing on his agility career. Very special thanks to Donna Colletti of Pinnacle Shelties in NJ, for breeding such a wonderful and multi-talented dog - the coincidental Grand Champion.

 

At home, Blue Ray loves attention and will clack his teeth when you do not respond fast enough! He can also be quite mischievous and manages to get himself in all sorts of "trouble." No matter, Blue Ray is one great boy."
